We just got the results of Noah's bloodwork and it seems he is good to go. He doesn't have any sores, so that is a real answer to our prayers, asking God for healing. He has definitely answered that one! At this moment, Noah and 5 of his friends are in our basement shooting each other with Nerf guns, and making a lot of noise. It is music to my ears! He has improved 200% since that transfusion on Sunday; his energy levels have increased and he is not nearly so pale. We hiked up to Twin Falls yesterday and he easily made it the whole way. It was very nice to see.
He is a bit of a stinker, though, he was joking about plotting to secretly eat some of those super sour candies called Toxic Waste so that he would get mouth sores, the rationale being that if he had sores, he wouldn't have to go back to Vancouver!
We have decided to go down as a family, at Noah's request. He wants everyone to come down, so that we can be together. The doctor would like him to stick around for about 7-10 days after his treatment, depending of course, how he does. If he sails through this time without sores, he would be sent home earlier, but if the same thing happens, they would likely admit him and give him continuous morphine so he could at least eat! Our nurse said they will also give him something called glutamine which apparently helps to prevent the sores. We have also heard from another parent that eating ice cream and popsicles during the methoTREXATE part of the treatment will also help. I really hope he'll eat them!
We get to go to a Gala dinner at the Westin Bayshore on Saturday night! The Ronald Mc Donald House is somehow involved in this dinner and any and all families associated with RMH can go. I am quite excited; it sounds like a fairly good time. *smirk* We even get cab rides to and from the dinner; the girls will absolutely love that!
Well, the party is over and it is time to bring some kids home... I will report back to you....
Does a Gala Dinner mean you get to dress up??? The girls will certainly love that!!! Safe travels and I am praying that you have a wonderful time together as a family in Vancouver....eating lots of Ice Cream and Popsicles!!!

PS - Picture Uncle Prosper going in and out of the Westin Bayshore wearing a Balaclava.
Hey Noah have a good trip to Vancouver. I hope the sores don't come back.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time at the Gala dinner! Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. :o) Glad to hear the mouth sores went away. As well as popscicles and ice cream (which sound like a tastier option to me!) I've also heard of sucking on ice cubes or frozen grapes can help with preventing mouth sores.

ReplyDeleteJordan had a great time at the party! Glad you were able to squeeze in Noah's party and that he felt up to it!! Safe travels and have fun at the gala dinner!
ReplyDeleteHaha - you'd think he'd have enough of the "toxic waste" being pumped into him! What a stinker! We are praising God with you that the sores are all healed up and we really hope that they stay away this round. Enjoy your time together and the Gala!! Love you guys!
