We are still at the hospital, and they have decided to keep Noah one more night, just to make sure the Erwinia l'asparaginase is not the reason he was vomiting. They have been giving him Ondansetron, but only orally and they have cut his fluids in half.
He had his injections today and even though he was extremely scared, they went fine. We made sure the nurses knew about the error on Monday so they were very careful to poke the right spot! He is very relieved, because the cream was on for about an hour and a half, so even his muscle tissue under his skin was good and numb, and he barely felt a thing. He was so scared - I felt so bad for him. I held his hands and put my forehead on his and just said, " shhh... shhh... shhh..." just like when he was a baby - funny how that comes back- it calmed him down a bit. We prayed and prayed while they were doing it and when it didn't hurt, he just melted into his pillow with absolute relief. There are no other words to say it. I actually looked in a thesaurus to find another word that means relief like he was feeling and there isn't one, so I will keep saying relief ; )
My mom and dad came today to see us and it was perfect because my dad could drive me to RMH to pick up some stuff; for example, I forgot my pjs and I have been wearing scrubs, and I have been wearing the same pair of jeans, etc. I also got Noah's homework because we have had two wasted days of him feeling fine and doing no work! He has been playing video games for two days now, because we didn't really bring anything elso to do. He is also in isolation because they are thinking he may have had a stomach bug or something, so he has not stepped out of our room since Monday. For a kid who is feeling great, it is a bit of torture. If he wasted his energy and didn't get some homework done, his father would be so disappointed....
There are people crowded around every TV in the hospital and at RMH the tv room is packed, too. Enjoy the game everyone!
Nice to hear that you are feeling better and have some energy to "waste"!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice visit with Oma and Opa - we will be thinking of you.
XOXO Auntie Jenn

ReplyDeleteHi Stacey and Noah,♪♫♫♫
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that things are going better for you now. Stacey, you are incredible, right Noah?? And of course, you, Noah are am amazing Trooper too - the role model, remember!! Keep up the prayers and hope.
Good news that your parents are there, Stacey - you need to take some breathing time too. I am guessing that Noah will be happy to get some homework done if his energy level is still up to it!!
This afternoon I helped out at the Primary Games Day. The them this year was Insects. "My' station was called the Caterpillar Crawl i.e. The Obstacle Course. My helpers were Danielle Z. Curtis, and Justin B. They were very good helpers!! We put out two identical sets of equipment. Each colour group was divided in half. Each half of the Colour Team had to construct their own Obstacle Course, go through it and then go through the other half's course. It was pretty neat to see how many different ways they invented the Course. The equipment consisted of: 1 chair; 1 low bench; 1 high bench; 2 skipping ropes; 4 hula hoops; 4 gym mats; 1 mini-trampoline and 1 of the large gymnastics shapes. Miranda and Alyson were on the same colour team but on opposite halves (does that sound confusing?)
Some of the grade Seven students, including Emily, were painting on a huge mural that is for the relay for Life - Noah's Ark of Hope. It looks great!!
Good night for now and God keep you safe and on your journey of triumph.
in His love,
Pat Klym Becker ♥♥♥♥
