Noah has reverted back to his non-eating ways. When my sisters were here, they wanted to do something fun with him, so they asked him, "If you could do anything you wanted today, anything at all, what would you do?" He replied, "...not eat anything." Seriously???? Are you crazy??? sigh... so yes, this is the nature of our struggle: I make a delicious looking supper, he brings a chair sort of close to the table, so as not to be able to smell any of it, sits down, and almost immediately states, " I have to go to the bathroom." Classic. He then leaves and when he finally returns, it is no longer palatable. I try to coax him to eat it, he hems and haws, eats some of the meat and after an hour or so, I try to lay the smack down and give him an ultimatum - "That salad must be gone when I come back!" Inevitably, it is still there and he looks pathetic and sad, so I give in and agree to his plan of eating a few carrots for supper. I am getting tired of this. He is back to his (low) weight of 31.6 kg, the same weight he was at at diagnosis. Every time we go to the clinic, they weigh him and then they sic the nutritionist on me, like I can somehow make the kid eat. If this keeps up, pretty soon he will need a NG feeding tube! (I don't actually know how soon or even if they are thinking about that for him, I am just frustrated....)
On the bright side, the Erwinia injections have been going well.
He is almost starting to trust the EMLA (the numbing cream) but not the nurses yet, lol. He was a little anxious today and he needed the nurse, Susan to show him exactly where she was going to poke. He did well, though and he remembers all the tricks, like wiggling his toes to keep his legs from tensing up, etc. He is seriously brave.
Now we are waiting to make sure he doesn't have a reaction, and he is watching a movie, thouroughly enjoying himself... he keeps giggling and asking me to watch the funny parts. He is so cute.....
Along the same lines, Noah is sporting a new look - but I have the pics on my phone so I will have to post them later.....
Have a good day, everyone!!! Also to come, pics of the Relay for Life that happened in Smithers over the weekend - it looked like a blast, and the Noah's Ark of Hope team came in third!!! Congratulations, team!!!
